Handmade art Uzbekistan The rich and diversified applied art of Uzbekistan holds a special place for toreutic - -the art of decorating metal items in relief. When we speak of toreutic art in Uzbekistan of the ancient and mediaeval periods, we mean the production of embossed metal items in Central Asian cities which are located on the on the territory of present – day Uzbekistan. In terms of age, toreutic art is second only to ceramics art. However, if we take the number of masterpieces over the abundance of motifs and diversity of technique and means of artistic expression, we find that the toreutic of Uzbekistan is far superior to all branches of applied art. The continuity of tradition, from century to century, has developed in toreutic art specific principle and a high standard of artistic performance. More open then not, toreutic items in metal, which were in great demand, served as a source of disseminating new ideas and new methods of enriching local tradition with the best achievements in the art of neighboring countries. An analysis of the historical development of toreutic art in Uzbekistan reveals the combination of a wide range of traditions. At the same time, metal embossed items of Central Asian cities always displayed a specific artistic style.
